Who are "The Book Babes"?
With tongues firmly planted in cheeks, "The Book Babes" are prizewinning journalists and book critics Margo Hammond and Ellen Heltzel.
Margo lives in St. Petersburg, Florida, and is the former book editor for the St. Petersburg Times. She has been divorced and remarried and favors international fiction, political books and mysteries. Ellen is a former book editor now freelancing from Portland, Oregon. She is married, has raised two sons and says cooking and gardening are either her hobbies or necessities -- she can't decide which. Her reading tastes lean toward biographies, contemporary fiction and books about religion and relationships.
The Book Babes seek to nurture fellowship around the love of books. In 2002, the pair teamed up as The Book Babes to write a weekly column for Poynter Online, the Website of the Poynter Institute for Media Studies.
