Hello Book Babes, how exciting that your show is now going live! We'd love to send you some information about the FREE and open-to-the-public 4th Annual Savannah Book Festival, February 18-20, President's Day weekend.

Better yet, perhaps you'd like to cover the festival in some way? With such august fiction writers as Tobias and Geoffrey Wolf, Sandra Brown, Lee Smith and Karl Marlantes; former UGA football coach Vince Dooley; Georgia poet laureate David Bottoms; NPR's MOTH Radio our fave and novelist George Dawes Green; Rolling Stones keyboardist Chuck Leavell; and so many more, this promises to be the best Festival yet.

Hope to hear from you!

Whether the revolution will be successful or not, and what that means for the fate of the various characters, is left up in the air until the very end, and the last one hundred or so pages are particularly enthralling, emotionally and physically brutal and forcefully written.

If there's one criticism to level at the book, its the way the novel refuses to give us an insider's perspective on Tecan.

I thought he would enjoy seeing the colors, the pictures, and all the words hand written on the pages.

  • Josh Bazell: Beat the Reaper: A Novel

Josh Bazell: Beat the Reaper: A Novel
Bazell worked in a hospital, which explains all his medical knowledge, but how does he know so much about the mob and how did he get so funny? This novel is hilarious.

  • Jessica Francis Kane: THE REPORT
Kudos to Kane for this novel based on a real tragedy, when 173 Brits were crushed to death while seeking shelter from an air raid during WWII. She reimagines the event through the investigation that followed and the man who handled it, offering food for thought on unintended consequences and how officials can and do recalibrate the evidence. The book is a Barnes & Noble Discover New Writers pick.
